They lost our business. Every year when on vacation in Florida we have gone to Sonny's and taken friends and family. This years experience was aweful. We have gone there for the ribs and always get the all you can eat. This year was no exception 5 of the 6 of us ordered the all you can eat ribs. The ribs were not cooked, they may have been at the right temp but full of white gilotious fat and tuff. There was no way you were going to get the meat off those bones. We were also offered two kinds of ribs. We ordered both but only one style was served and I sware when the reorder can it was the same style with some sauce on them. We really wanted to have this work out, my son and I tried to eat but said enough is enough. The 3 girls had 2 ribs each before they quit. We did notify the manager and comped us only 2 of the meals of the 6, still paying over $60. Only one of our party of 6 really had a meal. I will chose other ribs joints in the future.

I've eaten at another location a few times but wasn't so happy with this one. It does have a great salad bar but the ribs weren't so tasty.

It's a Sonny's, nothing out of the ordinary here. Decent food (all you can eat pork!) and this location seem to always be fast.

Food good, way too over priced! Party of three with one of those being a child equals $60 without a tip!

I lived in St. Pete for a few years and this was hands-down, one of the best BBQ places I've ever been to EVER! By the looks of the other reviews, they don't seem too impressed, but boy I was! I'm a midwesterner and for a chain restaurant, I was in love with Sonny's. I suppose it was a little pricey but the portions were huge and the service was fast! I always left this place with my gut full and feeling VERY happy! Unfortunately, I now live in the northeast so no more Sonny's for me. But boy, do I remember the food at Sonny's ...

We just finished having the All-You-Can-Eat ribs. The food was great, but our server Carmen really made the meal. She was attentive, friendly and made our over all experience outstanding. We never wanted for anything, it was like she could read our minds. Been to this store many times but this visit far exceeded our expectations. Give Carmen a gold star and a raise!

The food is ok but they are terrible at health inspections, most of their food is not fresh. All they do at the restaurant is warm it up. I worked with a waiter from Sonny's and he told me most of the food is made a main Sonny's facility. It is then shipped to their restaurants to warm up, it's no secret. Olive Garden, Red Lobster and many more chain restaurants do this. The restaurant i was talking about is located on Tyrone blvd., St. Petersburg, FL.

I usually like Sonny's very much and the service is always pretty good I like the one in Port Charlotte best because the chicken is always moist and tender every time I go there. The Sonny's on Tyrone Boulevard always seems to overcook and dry out the chicken. In addition I noticed that some Sonny's have different things on the salad bar. go figure.

Tried to order at the take-out window. I was ignored by every employee that I saw, except one that told me that someone would be with me in "two seconds". That may be code for something, but no one waited on me. I went to Jet's Pizza instead. I like Sonny's, but someone there needs to figure out some service issues it appears.

A disappointment.......I had been saving this one to the end of the week, looking forward to having some BBQ. We passed this place almost every day and it was pretty well reviewed on here but our experience was not great. I had the BBQ sampler plate and it was cold.......that kind of kills everything right there. The quantity of food was generous and the service was friendly but hard to recommend a place that serves cold BBQ. On the plus side it was very reasonably priced.

I used to go there all the time, as they have a salad bar, which is rare these days. One night while eating there, the ribs were so tough, I could not pull the meat from the bone. When I complained to the manager, her reply was, "it must of been a bad batch of ribs, we've had other complaints too". No offer to remedy the situation. She just walked off....WOW. After having bad meals there 4 more times, the final straw happened when the server brought out some chicken with blood dripping from the bone. YUK! I sent it back, two minutes later she brought out the same piece of chicken, they had just wiped the blood off, and sent it back out!!!!! I still have not filed a complaint with the Health Department, but someone is going to get sick, or worse, die from food poisoning. My advice, stay away from the Sonny's BBQ on Tyrone Blvd. Its like playing Russian Roulette.

I like this place. The men's room stinks and is kinda dirty with water And paper all over the floor. Itsba sewer stink not the other kind. Order double order of fries. Got about 10 fries on my plate and a couple dozen In a basket. Not really a double order.

Sonny's catered the athletic awards banquet at my school. I'd never had it before, and I LOVED it! The chicken breasts were a little dry, but the drumstick/thigh was quite delicious. I loved the baked beans and the rolls. What I loved more than anything was their macaroni. In fact, I went back for seconds. I loved that macaroni like it was my business, and I guarantee ya'll will like it too.

Have been here dozens of times over the years, and will be back dozens more. The pork ribs are the best in the area, hands down. I don't go in for the over-cooked ( usually boiled, before grilled) ribs where the meat falls off the bone. That's Rib City's way. And, I'll concede, the side dishes and salad bar are nothing special, just average for a BBQ joint. A rib dinner for two last week with 3 sides was $21.00--hardly overpriced., and we usually have leftovers to take home. Have I ever had to complain--dry, tough ribs-- for example? Yes, but I sent them back and the always friendly staff made it right. Don't listen to the naysayers who had one bad experience there and posted, try Sonny's for yourself.

  • Alissa M.

While it wasn't the worst meal we've had, all I can say about it is meh. I would expect that a BBQ joint could properly cook a grilled chicken sandwich and ribs. Hubby had to cut, yes, cut his ribs. All he kept saying was that Rib City ribs fall off the bone. My chicken was so dry not one drop of juice oozed out upon a nice squeeze. We have no need to go back.

Went here tonight around 8pm, and they were moderately full. Not busy, but nice and steady. The waitress was nice, but took a few minutes to get our drink orders. I ordered a sweet tea. Once she returned with our drinks, she said she mixed up my sweet tea with a strawberry lemonade? I don't know how you mix up a bright pink drink with tea. Anyways, we were waiting so long for our food, it got to the point where we were all staring at the kitchen doors waiting at any moment for our food to come out. I'd say it was about 45 mins of waiting. When we finally got our food, the first thing I noticed was the appearance. I ordered the pulled pork meal with Mac n cheese with fries. The pork had the appearance it had been sitting out for a while, and when tasted it, it was room temperature. That ruined it for me. It wasn't just the pork that was cold, it was everything on my plate. The taste was alright, but the fact it was room temperature ruined it for me. I just had to box it up and heat it up at home.

This was an awesome dining experience for us. Went for lunch, didn't have to wait for a seat. Staff were extremely friendly and attentive. We got the all you can eat chicken and all you can eat pork. The food was fresh and the chicken was tender. Pork was delish. We were able to switch between the pulled pork and the sliced pork. Both were equally good. The restaurant was clean and well kept. We will definitely eat here again!

We were really looking forward to some good BBQ ..we had eaten at this Sonny's at 3650 Tyrone Blvd several times before. This trip was a total disappointment for me and my fiancée. The bill was $33.13 for two, and we came away saying the corn was the best thing we had ! (she had beef brisket, I had dry rub ribs). The brisket was sliced too thin and was very dry. My ribs were very dried out also with very little taste. We both sat there scratching our heads..wondering what happened, and agreeing I can make better BB@ at home than what we got served up at Sonnys!!! The service was fine as usual...but the food wont tempt us to make a return visit! NOTE: I sent this review to corporate Sonnys contact us page online..hopefully I get a response &/or the fix the problems!

The brisket and pulled chicken were very good. They didn't even need any sauce. I love the salad bar's variety, tons of veggies like broccoli, beets, mushrooms, etc.. The staff, specifically Bryce, were so friendly and attentive. Ten bucks for the salad bar and meat combo with corn bread which is a great value.
